New Fun in Utah

After my graduation from BYU Idaho, I decided I needed to keep the adventures going in my life. I up and moved to Utah and lived with my Aunt and Uncle Greene for a few months and have finally found a great house to live in. I'm living with an old roommate from college and 4 new roommates. It has been a smooth transition and I can truly see how the Lord has been watching out for me. I continually can see blessings in my life that confirm I am where I need to be. For example:

The first Sunday in my new ward (about 2 weeks ago) I found out that President Monson is in my stake and lives about a mile or two from the house. I was so thrilled to hear this and was hoping sometime I would be able to see him. The next Sunday while we were in Sacrament meeting our bishop asked for everyone to stand at the beginning. In my mind I had a little hope that the prophet was coming... and to my surprise it was him! He came, on no special occasion, to visit my single's ward and spoke to us for an hour and a half. I loved this personal interaction we had with him. I was able to see him as a normal human being and not just a prophet. I don't think I've laughed so much in a sacrament meeting. He even entertained us with a brief number on the piano and he also sang a little song in spanish over the pulpit. He shared stories from his life and lessons he had learned, but in a much more casual setting compared to seeing him during General Conference. This experience helped me realize the Prophet really cares for me individually and that the Lord is aware of my needs. And I realized I must of picked prime real estate to move into if I get to live so close to the Prophet!

I have been working for HBI, a wellness company, for about 2 1/2 months now. I really enjoy my job as a health coach and am so grateful that I get to do something I love. Not many people get that luxury, especially in our current economical state. I am able to interact with many new people each day and as I discuss with them their personal struggles, I am able to put mine into perspective.

Here are a couple pictures. More to come soon!:
This is my new room that I share with Kelsey. This shows just a portion of it. It is so big that we are gradual trying to buy some furniture to fill up the empty spaces. We have our own bathroom, a balcony, and a beautiful view of the mountains on both sides when our curtains are drawn. The rest of the house is fairly nice too and we even have a swimming pool in the backyard (right up my alley)! We probably live about 15 minutes from Temple Square.
Kelsey and I on a lazy Saturday. We actually ended up going ice skating later in the evening for a big area activity. We'll just say I'm not a pro ice skater, but I did manage to stay on my skates and off my toosh the whole time.

Lessons I've learned while in Utah:
  1. You have to drive SLOWLY when there is snow on the road. I might have learned this lesson after slamming into a curb and almost taking out the institute sign... thank goodness I have cousin Matt to help me take care of my car.
  2. There really is a church at almost every corner. I guess I have no excuse for missing a Sunday.
  3. It isn't smart to ride go-carts at 9:30 at night when it is below freezing outside. Afterwards it took almost 15 minutes for me to get all feeling back into my hands.
