This past weekend I was able to take a trip to Las Vegas. I got a day off of work and took a road trip with my roommate and her family. It was nice to be able to get down to some warm sunshine for the weekend. My friend Jess was kind enough to let me stay at her apartment. I spent Friday night on the strip seeing all sides of Vegas. I definitely realized there is one side of the strip I would rather walk on than the other. Some of the architecture of the casinos were amazing. I think my favorite part was the water show.
On Saturday I went to Red Rock Park and climbed one of the rock formations and was able to see this view of the city. It was gorgeous. I decided it probably wasn't the best idea to wear white while climbing around on red rock. Overall the trip was fun and I was able to visit a couple of friends from school. Thanks to Kelsey and her family I was able to catch a cheap ride down and back!
Work has started to slow down a bit for me so I have a lot more free time on my hands. I've been starting to volunteer at a tutoring program for Utah refugees to help them with their homework and reading. It is interesting to see a different culture than mine. I'm not sure where these kids are from (somewhere in Africa?), but they think my long curly hair is the coolest thing. The first night I went I felt like every little kid touched it.
I've also started to pick up a new hobby. I miss playing the piano because I don't have one in my house, but I've picked up learning the guitar. Luckily for now my roommate has a guitar I can borrow, but I'm looking into buying one for myself. If anyone is trying to get rid of their guitar, let me know!
Roommates are moving out and in this next weekend so it will be time for a bit of spring cleaning. I can't wait for the sunshine to come!
