Summer in a Flash

I definitely think summer passes faster when you are living in Utah. The nights are already getting cold and it's only the beginning of September! Here are some adventures I enjoyed during my summer fun:

  • I went backpacking with a few friends up past Kamas. We stayed at Island Lake but were able to hike past 3-4 other lakes on our way. I got to try my hand at fishing again, but I guess I'm no pro because I turned out empty handed.
  • My mom came to visit for about a week and we went down to Zion's with Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Rich. We stayed in the motor home so it didn't even feel like camping. Mom and I hiked Angel's landing, Emerald Pools, and Hidden Canyon. So beautiful and fun to get out on those hikes!
  • I stayed up way too late one night, but drove up to the top of the canyon and watch a meteor shower.
  • We threw pool parties right and left to get good use out of our pool. My favorite game: Ultimate frisbee in the pool.
  • We watched several free movies out in the park and had a great set up at the drive ins one night. Nothing like a warm summer night and a good movie (and maybe a nap during the movie too).
  • I've found out I don't love baseball games. But I do love my friends who like to go to baseball games so I'll go to distract them while they are watching the plays.
  • I went to several concerts: Tim McGraw (I was supposed to see Lady Antebelum too, but got stuck in traffic and missed their opening act!), John Mayer (he was acting like such a hippie), and as of this weekend Boys II Men. I decided I like the concert scene. Especially when you can get free tickets!
Amongst all of these adventures I have been keeping up with work and friends. It is so nice to be out of school because after my work day, I can leave work at work and come home to my life. Whether it be volleyball nights, evening jogs, or guitar nights, I feel like I can keep the balance in life to keep me sane. I have a new goal to stretch my running legs into running a 10K. We will see if my body is made out to do this.

I'm loving my time in SLC and know this is where I'm supposed to be right now. Thank goodness I know the Lord has his hand in my life. I hope he has his hand on my steering wheel when I have to start driving in the snow again....

Here are a few pictures:
This was at our first pool party of the summer. We might be laying in the sun because our pool is so "refreshing."
This is at a YSA conference. We were waiting for the concert to start. Highlight: Alex Boye and me standing in the very front row... about to jump on the stage.

Backpacking crew. Beautiful wilderness and fun friends.

Morning of the pack trip. We camped up on the cliff so we had an amazing view.

Tim McGraw concert with Brenna. Brenna is probably one of the best people to go to a concert with. Let me tell you, there were such interesting people!

I'm an FHE group leader so we have our activities over at our house all the time. Best FHE night of the summer: Pudding Twister. Try it sometime!

The Bee's Baseball Game. Go Bees!

Drive-Ins: We all fought over sitting in this truck because of the LOVE SACK. I was successful!
We have so many random nights at our house. We decided to make a human pyramid. The trick: we didn't have anyone to take the picture so Natalie (on top) had to set the timer and then climb to get to the top of the pyramid before the picture was taken. This was a our closest success.
